Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, India is one of the oldest and most exciting and best-protected wildernesses in the State.
Spread over approximately 1,727 sq. km. (core and buffer), the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve one of India's 47 project tiger reserves is located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state and is approximately 150 km from Nagpur city.
The word 'Tadoba' is derived from the name of God ‘Tadoba’ or ‘Taru’ who is revered by local tribals and ‘Andhari’ is a river that flows through this area.
A tropical dry deciduous forest, it has a diverse character with dense vegetation, smooth meadows, hilly terrains, deep valleys, multiple lakes, all offering a healthy environment to stabilize the numbers of tigers and other animals like the leopard, sloth bear, hyena, jackal, wild dog, nilgai and sambar.
Teak and bamboo dominate this landscape and scenic treks with interesting wildlife sightings are assured at Tadoba.
The park is open for visitors from 15th October to 30th June every season and remains closed on Tuesdays. Morning and afternoon safaris, and recently introduced night safaris are available for visitors. Official guides accompanying safari vehicles are mandatory for all excursions.
Core Zone
Mohurli Gate
Mohurli Gate is the oldest entrance to the park, which is located approximately 10 km from the resort. Morning and afternoon gypsy safaris in the core are available from this gate.
Khutwanda Gate
Khutwanda Gate is most conveniently located just 3 km from the resort. Morning and afternoon gypsy safaris in the core are available from this gate.
Kolara, Navegaon, Pangdi & Zari Gates
These are other approach gates to Tadoba but are located at a distance of between 45 minutes to 90 minutes drive from Limban.
Buffer Zone
Junona Gate
Junona Gate is located approximate 10 km from the resort, close to the Mohurli Gate. Morning and afternoon gypsy safaris in the buffer forest are available from this gate.
Agarzari Gate
Agarzari Gate is located approximate 13 km from the resort. Morning and afternoon gypsy safaris in the buffer forest are available from this gate.
Devada Gate
Devada Gate is located approximate 13 km from the resort across Agarzari Gate. Morning and afternoon gypsy safaris in the buffer forest are available from this gate.
